“How Dare You – 看你好不好？” is an 60-minute bilingual Mandarin–English stand-up special by Taiwanese comedian Ponpon Huang. After divorce, a kid and a career reboot, she is finally ready to ask one big question: How dare you break my life – and how dare I build it back even louder?
Mixing sharp punchlines with painfully honest stories, Ponpon tears into Asian family expectations, cheating husbands, single motherhood, money, dating again in her 40s and trying to rebuild a life between Taipei, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney. The show is highly interactive and playful – audiences help her piece together “evidence” of betrayal and laugh through the chaos of starting over.
The show switches between Mandarin and English, but you don’t need to be fluent in both. Major stories are told in one language and briefly recapped in the other, so English speakers, Mandarin speakers and mixed-language couples can all follow, cringe and laugh together.
